The symposium was entitled, Male LUTS: not just the treatment of BPH?

The evening was chaired by Pof Mulders. Kathleen D'Hauwers and Mr Paul Rabsztyn presented some local research on sexual dysfunction after prostate surgery. It confirmed the risk of dry or retrograde ejaculation, but also suggested that the quality of orgasm could also be affected, both upwards and downwards.

Dr John Heesakker, provided an excellent overview of the complex relationship between overactive bladder and BPH. Dr Frank d'Ancona gave an overview of the causes and treatments of nocturia.

The evening was completed with two presentations on Green light laser surgery for BPH. Andrew Thomas gave an overview of the history of green light laser, reviewed the existing data on its efficacy and discussed the goliath study. The evening was closed by Mr ilhan Karaoglu who presented data on the first 46 patients to undergo 3rd Generation Green light laser XPS at Nijmegen. The data was high quality with good outcomes, few complications and a low re-operation rate.
